Local author and librarian, Jill Cullen, will be at Ligonier Valley Library on Saturday, May 13 from 1:00 to 4:00 PM. She will do a talk on her writing and publishing journey that includes why she went with Kindle Direct Publishing. If time allows, she will also discuss the pros and cons of being a pantser vs a plotter (2 different writing styles).

Jill recently published her second book and has a third on the way. Her first book, Flirting with a New Life is a story about a single mom who’s also a fiction writer with writer’s block. She was recently granted some money for her current project and thinks she has about 6 months to finish it before she runs out of money and has to get a full-time job. The short deadline–along with dealing with the loss of her family unit–causes Kelly's writer’s block to intensify. So she finds herself getting into quirky situations while doing pretty much anything but writing. Her second book, Soulmates, is a story of best friends and love interests at different phases of their lives. It spans from 1991 to 2003 and reaches back to the 1970s. The protagonist is learning how to find her way in the world and deciding if it’s possible for her to embrace life and happiness, and she’s also figuring out if she’ll allow herself to love and be loved.

This program is free and open to the public. No registration. Copies of her books will be available for purchase and to be signed.

Jill lives in Monroeville with her husband, son and adorable pup Myrna. She has a BA in English from Point Park University and MLIS from the University of Pittsburgh. She loves to read, write and spend time talking and laughing with family and friends.
