Pennsylvania Room Historic Photography Show History and Mission
The Photography Show’s History and Mission
The Pennsylvania Room staff and volunteers began doing the photography shows in 2002 with the Ligonier Valley Rail Road. The exhibits have covered a wide array of local Ligonier Valley history. Binders for each of the Historic Photography Shows are available in the Pennsylvania Room and feature photos and documents that were on display for the show - staff and volunteers continue to add to them. The show has been held every year since 2002 except for 2020. The 2021 show is now the 19th exhibit.
The mission of the Show (as well as the smaller shows held throughout the year) is to present a facet of Ligonier Valley history that is interesting, educational and may have been overlooked in the past. In addition, the photographs and documents copied become a permanent part of the Pennsylvania Room collection. This is an ideal manner of preserving our history and provides patrons with a strong base from which to conduct research.
If you would like to volunteer to help with the Historic Photography Show or have items you are willing to donate for one of the shows, please visit the Pennsylvania Room or contact the Pennsylvania Room's Archivist by calling the Library at 724-238-6451 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
