“Secret of the Crocus” is an in-depth audio-visual experience that dives into the gardening world of Emily Elizabeth Dickinson - regarded by many scholars as one of the greatest poets of the English language. While today many know of her poetry, few may realize that in Emily’s lifetime only six of her poems were ever published – all anonymously. To her family and friends, Emily was known as a prolific gardener. This presentation, “Secret of the Crocus,” is a journey into Emily’s time when her flowers were her fame. Experience the love, beauty, and hope that Emily had within her summer gardens through her poetry and our photographs. Commiserate at the pain, heartache, and loss found at the coming of winter’s frost. Rejuvenate at the soul’s resurrection of spring when the Earth returned the blooms to her Amherst gardens. “March is the month of Expectation,” Emily once penned at the joy of spring to come! Join us for a walk in Emily’s garden as if 150 years were only yesterday.

Join us for this program that starts us looking toward the arrival of spring! The program will be held on Saturday, April 9th from 1:00 to 3:00 PM in the Ligonier Valley Library's Community Room.
