This property was bought from Christian Roth in 1870 by Jacob Murdock, Daniel Beltz and John Berkey. Murdock & Berkey became partners in 1879 removing an old hotel for the new storefront. The Murdock & Berkey General Store was known to have a wide variety of clothing, dry goods, notions, & groceries. J. A. Ashcom’s dental office was located above the store.
