Jacob H. Murdock was the owner of the Murdock and Berkey Store on the northeast corner of the Diamond. He was a Civil War veteran and was known as a versatile entertainer and storyteller. In 1890, the Ligonier Echo described this home as “an elegant brick residence; the mason work being a masterpiece by J. H. Brant & Co. and brick work by W. H. Christman.”
