Check Us Out

Want to be in charge of a teen-only club? Want to be the voice for the Young Adult section of the library? Want to learn how technology is becoming an important part of our library? Want to learn how to use brand new equipment? Come to our Check Us Out Kickoff, on Saturday, September 21st, at 2pm!

This is a book club for teens, but it is not just about books. This club is going to be about anything that has to do with books, new social media, new technology, etc. You (the teens) will lead each meeting!

The library has acquired some new technology, and we want the teens to take advantage of it! Do you have a video idea? A mini documentary idea? Want to start your own YouTube channel? Need better equipment for TikTok? Come to the club meetings and you can have access to it all!

DIY Club

Need to get your creative juices flowing? Want to Do It Yourself? Come to the teen-only DIY Club, every second Wednesday of each month. We’ll be working on different projects each session, and these club meetings are free! This is a come when you can kind of club, but we’d love to see you each month! Some ideas for the projects include: weaving, string art, bath bombs, optical illusions, vision boards, duct tape wallets, and melted crayon art.

Game Nights

Who’s up for a little friendly competition? The library will be hosting teen-only game nights! On the first Tuesday of every month (starting in October) Miss Annamae will be the ultimate referee for these games. Get ready for Wii competitions, Uno tournaments, giant Jenga, giant Twister, and so much more!

Murder Mystery Party

There’s been a MURDER at the Library!! Join us on October 19th at 2pm for a MURDER MYSTERY PARTY! More details to come closer to the party. Keep your eyes peeled for registration information!

Crash Coding Course

Ever wanted to make your own video game, but don’t know where to start? In November, Miss Annamae will be holding a Crash Coding Course. It will be three sessions (Nov. 12th, 19th, and 26th), and by the end you’ll know how to code your very own video game! Each session will be one hour, and you MUST BE REGISTERED to attend. Registration will begin in October.

Escape the Library

ESCAPE THE LIBRARY. FIND THE CLUES, SOLVE THE PUZZLES, AND TRY TO COMPLETE THE MISSION IN JUST 60 MINUTES. DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES? Escape the Library will take place towards the end of December, so stay tuned for more information.

Meet the Librarian

Hi! My name is Annamae Bolen, and I’m the new Teen Librarian and Youth Services Coordinator at the Ligonier Valley Library. I started at the beginning of June 2019, and wanted to share a little bit about myself.

I graduated from John Carroll University in May of 2018 with Bachelor’s in English. I plan on returning to school to earn my Master’s in Library Science and Information. I’m from Moon Township, PA (Right near the Pittsburgh Airport!). I grew up with my mom, my dad, and my younger sister, Emily. We have a two year old labradoodle named Sunny, and she loves snuggles. I played sports my whole life, and even played lacrosse for two years in college. Some of my passions include: knitting, reading, bullet journaling, spending time with my family, playing with my dog, traveling, and (most recently) cooking. I would love to meet you! Please stop in the library to see me at any time, or email me annamae.bolen@wlnonline.org
