Library Director Retires

From Novel Art 2015

In 1976, Janet Hudson began what would become a 44-year career at Ligonier Valley Library.

She started on June 1, 1976, as the children’s librarian and then, nearly a year later, she became the library director – a position she held until June 2020.

The staff of the Ligonier Valley Library will greatly miss Janet – many of whom worked for her for over 15 years (some for as long as 34 years).

She inspired a great deal of loyalty and camaraderie among her employees and also with many of the library’s patrons. One of her favorite jobs was helping connect a patron with a good book.

She saw the library through a lot of changes – changes to the physical library, changes in how people used the library, and even changes in employees (as some retired or moved on to other jobs and the hiring of new employees).

Her staff and the library board members wish her the best of everything as she starts a new chapter in her life… and hopefully gets to kick back, relax, and read even more than she already did!
