DESCRIPTION:The Opening Reception for this year’s Historic Photography Show\, “The Road to the Revolutionary War in Ligonier Valley\,” will be held from 4:00 – 6:45 on Tuesday\, June 23. Visitors will be able to view the exhibit\, talk with committee members and others about the Revolution\, and enjoy some snacks. \nBeginning at 5:30 Monty Murty will give a PowerPoint presentation\, “American Scripture – the Declaration of Independence.” His presentation will be filled with art of the period and give an account of the process of writing\, signing and publishing copies of the text. Mr. Murty takes his title from the title of Dr. Pauline Maier’s award winning book\, considered THE authoritative history of the process of making the Declaration. He will give some little known facts and also answer questions as well as provide a one-page annotated bibliography of suggested reading.
