Exercise for the Brain and Body
Lace up your walking shoes and join the Ligonier Valley Library staff as we renew our Let's Book program! The American Heart Association suggests walking 20 minutes a day to be heart healthy. Librarians suggest reading 20 minutes a day (or more depending on how good the book is) to be brain healthy. Let's Book encourages everyone to do more of both (just not at the same time)!
2019 Let's Book Program
Reading and walking are great ways to reduce stress and energize the mind and body. Lace up your walking shoes and join Ligonier Valley Library Staff as we renew our Let’s Book program!
The 2019 program will feature eight walks scheduled on different days and at different times (a little something for everyone and their busy schedules) plus a fun challenge that members participate in to earn a Let’s Book t-shirt and raffle tickets for prizes to be given out at the November wrap-up party.
Registration will begin on Tuesday, September 10 and continue through the next week or so - please allow a few minutes to fill out the form. Upon registering, participants will receive a packet that includes both the challenge and a list of walks with destinations.
Let’s Book is simple and fairly flexible – a few of the challenges do require participants to attend one or two of the group walks, but much of it can be done on your own, with friends and family, or us!

Participants will meet library staff at the walking destination. For the Ligonier Valley Trail, members are welcome to extend their walk by meeting at the library at 9:45am - this will make the walk closer to 4 miles (the trail is 1.4 from the bridge to the turnaround point).
Walks are held rain or shine - in the event of a heavy rain shower or thunderstorm, the walk will be cancelled.
You must be a registered member of Let's Book to attend the walks. Family and friends are welcome, but will need to stop in the library and fill out a registration form prior to the walk.
