Postponed – One Book One Westmoreland
April 1 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the One Book One Westmoreland book discussion will be postponed. As soon as we have a new date, we will update the event here and on Facebook. Thank you!
Join us for a discussion of the winter 2020 One Book, One Westmoreland title, The City of Falling Angels. Turning to the magic, mystery, and decadence of Venice, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil author John Berendt gradually reveals the truth behind a sensational fire that in 1996 destroyed the historic Fenice opera house. Encountering a rich cast of characters, Berendt tells a tale full of atmosphere and surprise as the stories build, one after the other, ultimately coming together to portray a world as finely drawn as a still-life painting.
Discussion participants will have the opportunity to purchase a discounted ticket ($12) for the Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra‘s Italian Opera Fest on Saturday, April 25 at 7:30pm. The unforgettable season finale of celebrated Italian operatic masterworks will feature the works of Verdi, Bellini and Puccini performed by the 60-member WSO Chamber Singers and special guests, conducted by Daniel Meyer.
Please register for this program at least two weeks in advance. A copy of The City of Falling Angels will be provided by the library.
To attend the One Book One Westmoreland discussion at Ligonier Valley Library, stop in or call the library at 724-238-6451.
