What is a Socrates Café? A discussion club which brings together a group of diverse individuals on a regular bases to consider some of the profound issues of the universe. The emphasis is placed on questioning, open-mindedness and challenging our own assumptions while listening to and respecting the views shared by others.
The Socrates Café will meet on the 2nd Thursday of the month from 5:00 to 6:30 PM at the Ligonier Valley Library. Dighton Fiddner, Ph.D. (“Mac”) and Trudy Brisendine are the facilitators.
The next café will be on February 13 in the community room!

A plan was announced in 1966 to build a new library and fifty year’s ago on July 12, the new library officially opened on the northwest corner of the Ligonier Diamond. This year the original building is being renovated. Join us in July to celebrate 50 years of everything that makes your local library special!

Some great programs are being lined up for the kids on our 50th Anniversary weekend. So far we have Steve Haberman and his Magical Musical Magic Show complete with a Singing Chicken scheduled for 2:45 pm on Sunday, July 15. We also have Stage Right visiting us at 11 am on Saturday, July 14 performing Amelia’s Dance Party as part of their Books Come Alive series.
