Our special Let’s Book walk series continues with a walk to the Spruce Flats Bog and Wildlife Area in Forbes State Forest on Thursday, June 15 at 10 am with Rachael Mahony, Environmental Education Specialist at Forbes State Forest.
From Laurel Summit State Park, it is an easy 1/2 mile walk to the Bog where a platform extends out with benches. Rachael will give a talk and answer questions about the various plants and species that thrive in the area. Afterward, we will extend the walk by exploring at least one of the nearby trails – this part of the walk will be at a moderate pace and will be a bit more challenging.
Please wear sturdy shoes and dress appropriately. Those planning to go on the longer walk should keep in mind that the trail may be muddy. You may also want to bring bug spray and your camera!
Preregistration is stronly encouraged! You do not have to be a member of Let’s Book to participate in this series of walks. Join us for one or all four! The walks are free and open to the public.
Parking for the Spruce Flats Bog walk is at Laurel Summit State Park (Google Map). Participants should make arrangements to drive themselves or carpool with others to the location.
