Summer Reading Club 2009 kicks-off on...

Thursday, June 18 at 2:00 pm

Summer Reading Club promises to be a fun-filled adventure of imagination, creativity, and challenges as we dare to "Be Creative @ the Library," the theme for this year's program.

Summer Reading Club is for children who have completed
kindergarten through 6th Grade.

Pre-Schoolers and Parents are invited to participate in the "Read-To-Me" Program

Beginning on Monday, June 22nd!

The "Read-To-Me" program is for children who are too young to read by themselves


 

PRE-SCHOOL STORY HOUR

Begins on...

Tuesday, June 23 at
10:30 am
and Wednesday, June 24 at
10:30 am & 1:30 pm

Preschool Story hour is for children ages three to five.

Pre-registration is required.

There is no fee for this service.

Stories, games, songs, finger plays, and easy exercises are done each meeting along with a simple craft project.

Lenape Culture

Thursday, June 25 at 10:30 am in the library's classroom

A hands-on program of Native American artifacts, Lenape games, crafts, songs and a candy dance. Presented through the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Anthropology and Archaeology.

(There will be no afternoon program)

Thursday, July 9 at 2:30 pm in the library's classroom

A little bit of music from Back to Leroy Anderson, minuets to movie sound tracks, with a few surprises thrown in just for fun!

David Parker

Monday, July 13 at 7:00 pm in the Town Hall Auditorium

David Parker, communicator, entertainer, motivator, brings his unique program to the Valley. David's program blends music, humor, sign language, and audience participation into a magical message of friendship. This family-friendly program entertains with themes of creativity, self-esteem and leadership.

David has performed throughout North America and has delighted audiences in hundreds of schools and libraries as well as on grand stages such as The Kennedy Center and the Brooklyn Academy of Music. He is also a published author.

Tales from the Old Trunk

with Judy Seeley

Thursday, July 16 at 2:30 pm in the library's classroom

Storyteller Judy has discovered a trunk full of rare old books and mysterious treasures. The audience will drum, pantomime, and improvise as stories are created using the intriguing items from the old trunk.

with Steve Haberman

Thursday, July 23 at 2:30 pm in the library's classroom

A magic show with Steve Haberman - a high energy, fun-filled, educational show that utilizes magic, storytelling, and lots of audience participation to teach kids all about using their imagination and the power of reading.

The Enchanted Forest

with Michael List of the Carnegie Museum of Natural History

Thursday, July 30 at 2:30 pm in the library's classroom

When Jack, of Beanstalk fame, wanders into a forest looking for something new to chop down, he encounters a world filled with creatures of all kinds. There, he learns how a wide variety of animals and plants keep our environment healthy and strong. In this imaginative play, using a fairy-tale-like setting and loaded with audience participation, we will introduce your students to the basic concepts of biodiversity, giving them access to this most important and timely topic.
